THE REVIEW |
ALL THAT BLEEDS: PCYC Open Day, Umina 18.02.2006:
I first saw All That Bleeds perform at the Bateau Bay Youth Rock off back in January this year. The girls won the 2nd encouragement award for their efforts.
Although the setting was more concordant to todays young bands the girls did also seem more polished and at ease on a stage where they can play their songs with the energy they deserve.
I was interested to see the similarity with the notes I quickly jotted down at Bateau Bay and today's performance. I had paid special attention to one of the girls original works - 'Confusion'. The lyric content and performance of this particular number is going to perhaps become the girls signature tune.
Mikalah has a good mic technique and can, when called for, have some hidden power in her voice.
Merin and Heidi are in sync with their guitars and the band was much tighter this time than the last performace I saw. If they can keep this ability with the addition of a drummer then all will be good.
All That Bleeds is in the process of adding a drummer to the trio. This will fill out and give more definition and accent to all the songs the girls perform, in particular 'Confusion'. I would love to hear that song again with a full band.
All That Bleeds are still in their embryotic stages of course but with time and practice these young ladies will have an originals band that ought to prove quite popular. |
