BluesAngels - THE BIO |
 BLUESANGELS:
The BluesAngels formed in 2008 to bring authentic and original acoustic folk blues to the NSW Central Coast and beyond. Exploring early New Orleans and Cajun blues, Appalachian through Mississippi delta, Memphis and Chicago, jump, British 60s, USA & Oz 70s, Texas swing, Newgrass, West Coast, and on into contemporary indie roots, BluesAngels are a total acoustic blues package top to toe.
BLUESANGELS AND FRIENDS:
For the unique Randall’s Acoustica, every 2nd Sunday arvo from May 30 in 2010, the boys will be calling on various talented friends to add further flavour to their blues stew, beginning with the earthy voice of Kate Landsberry (BKT/Eclectic Groove) and a slew of popular jazz, folk, country and rock covers. Alternate Sundays will be covered with the sweet harmonies of the girls from Thats That (and friends), the Coast’s well-loved folk soul duo. Sweet & earthy, or raw and ready, Randall’s On The Beach Sundays Acoustica is the place to wind down your weekend with easy-on-the-ears real music, relaxed top notch food and drink, and the ocean at your feet.
TOM FLOOD
Tom Flood has played music on and off in public for the last 37 years, starting with the harmonica in Perth WA for various bands in rock, blues and folk, then Sydney, accompanied Michael Driscoll Band (folk/blues), followed by his own foray into guitar pop, Poles Apart, then various folk, blues and eclectic outfits in Katoomba, adding the 5 string banjo to his quiver. He moved to the Central Coast in 2003 and has since accompanied Phil Edgeley, Relic, Rollercoaster Blues Band, Atlas Shrugged, on harmonica. He formed duo BluesAngels in 2008 with Bruce Bubb (guitar, stompbox, vocal) to get back to his musical roots and continue his songwriting, vocals, banjo, harmonicas, guitar, occasional kazoo, kalimba and percussion.
On the coast he has played Jack’s Bar, Patonga Hotel, Gosford RSL, Toukley Golf Club, 2ndGosford City Blues Festival, 1st BluesTrain (Richmond Vale), markets, benefits, open mics, galleries, folk clubs and sessions. He was also the inspiration and music co-ordinator for the ill-fated 1st Whale&Blues Festival at Port Stephens 2006, and the Rainbow Gate Real Acoustic Sessions 2008 (no electricity!) at Umina.
He has taught blues harp privately, and with colleges here, since 2004. He is also a much awarded novelist, a picture book writer, with theatre and film scripts and short prose, an editor, writing mentor and assessor, literary judge and tutor, through his service Flood Manuscripts.
BRUCE BUBB
Bruce Bubb came back to guitar late. He played rhythm for coast party band Relic for 4 years, doubled with East Coast Rhythm for a spell 2 years ago, and sometimes backs Warren Targett. He discovered roots music and formed BluesAngels as the power station behind Tom Flood in 2008, added stompbox, vocals, and started songwriting. Bruce runs his own bathroom renovation specialist service and is a plumber by trade. |
