I sing on the "politics of the heart" & at great risk of sounding like a righteous wanker, I hope that my songs highlight the plight of those without a voice inspiring compassion, ecological awareness and social justice.
I completed a BA (Drama) in 1995 with a strong interest in political theatre and interweave drama, song & other media to create a ‘performance piece'.
A blues influence comes from time spent in New Orleans with "Queen of the Blues" Marva Wright.
SCALA (Songwriters, Composers and Lyricists Assoc) awarded true story, Song for Charlie, with the 2002 Highly Commended Award. In addition, songs from my debut CD, Sanctuary, have made it into various categories of First Round Finalist in the ABC Newcastle 2002, 2003 and 2005 Music Awards.
The album has all original songs and can be described as a bit hippy, a bit mystical and (I hope) very poignant. Other local musicians featured on Sanctuary include Jan Couchman on the Celtic Harp, Chris Martin on the Darumbuka and Frank Russell on the Blues Harmonica.
100% of the profits from Sanctuary ($991 so far) have been donated to various causes from themed performances. For more information go to: www.pems.com.au/wolfsong.html
