Firstly I must extend our thanks to Tim from Shelly's for inviting us to do the review at this wonderful restaurant.
The ambience is a dream. So relaxing and serene.
I must also extend apologies for taking up so much of Nicole's time.
What an amazing young lady, we could have chatted for hours methinks.
Niksta performed some interesting and laid back songs. Her style of playing and her own feel for what she does add so much more. She doesn't just hit some notes and sing.
Mike was impressed with her version of Like a Bird, and U2's Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
I also enjoyed the U2 cover and her presentation of You've Got a Friend, That's the Time and Gimme One Reason were also wonderfully presented and received well by appreciative diners. Nicole is a presence on the stage. Subtle and graceful.
The details involved in playing a restaurant gig is not one oft thought of by most.
To be a subtle almost invisible, yet audible and entertaining entity is no easy task. Towards the evenings end when munchtime is done your presence then becomes more visible and set lists, styles and audio change accordingly.
Niksta has perfected this art and it was reflected by the diners as the night went on.
Nicole has supported some great national and international artists. Her talents are well respected in the industry and her clean and reliable presentation just add so much creedence to her reputation.
Her original work, after seeing her style tonight, is what I am eager to hear.
I will have a review on her CD in the near future.
Coming soon from the What's On crew will be the artists' real life profiles. What do these people do when they are not entertaining you on the stage ... well just you wait and see. There are some amazing and entertaining anecdotes out there and Niksta's will be one that will leave you wanting so much more.. |
