PEATS RIDGE FESTIVAL
Glenworth Valley December 29th to January 1st
The first major event in Australia to run completely on renewable energy and recent winner of Best Achievement in Sustainability at the
2009 Australian Event Awards |
THE FULL MUSICAL LINE UP IS ANNOUNCED:
Peats Ridge always presents an eclectic mix of emerging and established artists and the 2009 installment of the Festival will be no different with over 200 artists performing across 10 stages.
A large international contingent has joined the festival line up: Headlining the bill are Lamb, hit phenomenon trip hop influenced music duo from Manchester England.
Former front man of The Tea Party Jeff Martin will bring his blend of acoustic, alternative, folk rock from Canada. Telepathe a duo hailing from Brooklyn New York, play avant-garde ethereal pop that transcends all musical genres, exploring territories of pop, hip-hop, shoegaze, electronic, and psychedelic music (just to name a few).
From the outskirts of Tokyo come the most exciting and brightest hopes in funk ever. Massive hits at the Fuji Rock Festival, this six-piece phenomenon, nasty groove-making cats, deep-dapping and history changing dogs call themselves Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro. While UK’s Passenger front man, Mike Rosenberg will be joining Peats Ridge for an alternative acoustic set. Founders of freak folk, US Castanets bring their unique sound to Australia for the first time and Dan Mangan’s (Canada) raw rootsiness and touches of indie-pop will fit the bill nicely.
Also part of international dance program, producer/remixer extraordinaire Ripperton (Switzerland), will spin live his lush house minimal and techno blends. And multi-musical talent Oakley (O.G.) Grenell (NZ) will produce and perform some of the finest crafted hip-hop, soul and jazz cuts on offer.
The strong Australian line up has also grown, talents such as Lost Valentinos with their psychedelic techno style will play alongside Mama Kin of WA. Melbourne based Christian Vance Live is an artist who effortlessly slips from sound scape to dark disco grooves and from hi tech jazz to hypnotic techno rhythms. Originating from Wollongong reggae/afrobeat 10 piece The Strides pay homage to the likes of Fela Kuti and Bob Marley, forging a form of high energy dance music, as well as a laid back dub experience.
The merging and contrast of genres continues from Mic Conway's National Junk Band, full of Illusion, satire, fire, vaudeville, magic and gob-smacking mayhem, to Sydney indie electronica act Seekae. Folk, gypsy and bluegrass will be alive with The Crooked Fiddle Band, while Marshall and the Fro’s acclaimed slide guitar will contrast the reverberated pop sounds of Deep Sea Arcade.
Peats Ridge are extremely happy to announce their 2nd line up:
