PHAT MAGPIE - THE BIOGRAPHY |
 PHAT MAGPIE :
You wouldn't expect to make a great souffle with rotten eggs, so it stands to reason that you wouldn't form a great band with less than magnificent musicians.
Enter - PHAT MAGPIE. With a combined experience of over 60 years PHAT MAGPIE know what, how and when to do it - just right.
PHAT MAGPIE is the brainchild of local singer/songwriter, musician, actor and radio star, Peter Healy.
Peter's awesome lyrics and music come alive with the expert support from David Underwood (Button Mushrooms, Big Rhythm, The Outsiders etc) and drummer extraordinaire, Jim Heywood, (The Outsiders, The Woodies etc) to bake the most scrumptious aural feast you will have tasted.
Phat Magpie will make their debut performance at the Kincumber Hotel at 8:30 pm on Friday the 13th of October 2006.
With so little calories this pie will not make you Phat!

PHAT MAGPIE - THE REVIEW |
PHAT MAGPIE - Kincumber Hotel - October 13 2006:
Wow - what a combination this PHAT MAGPIE proved to be.
The wonderful, emotive, provocative and sometimes, downright funny words of Phat Magpie's main man, PETER HEALY were delivered in a most entertaining, punchy, melodic, harmonious blend of professional musicianship.
This is it. This is the mix of quality a few local bands could only dream of.
Even the obligatory cover versions (thankfully no brown eyed girls on their way to Khe San here) were delivered in a various mix of harmonies and lead vocals to keep the interest going and not bore you to death with monotonous droning.
PHAT MAGPIE had a few special guests hit the stage - JENNY MARIE LANG (JML Band, Bec WIllis and Friends) added some beautiful harmonies and guitar work while Chris Jones (Radio Birdman, Finch) added his own style of frantic playing on a few songs as well.
Overall this was a gig that most venues could benefit from and punters would seek out to see again.
I wonder if the Kincumber threw in extra for the lead singers efforts to end a slight biff at the end of the night?
