BIO - THE REBEL ROUSERS
THE REBEL ROUSERS: The Rebel Rousers are a good time 50s-60s rock and roll dance band that are keeping the tradition alive. They have been together for 10 years and in that time have played regularly in clubs all over the Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney. They have recorded two albums and are in the process of recording their third. The band has seen a few line up changes over the years for one reason or another, as each new member brings his own experience to the band, the band just keeps on getting better. Chris Anthony; Lead Vocalist Chris has 30 years experience in the entertainment business as a Singer / Musician / DJ / Recording Artist. Apprenticeship as Lead Singer and guitarist in bands since the 70’s. Chris has worked with and supported such names as Garry Sweet (Police Rescue) Recording Artist Chris Franklyn, Vince Sorenti and the infamous Carlotta. He has enjoyed great success known as Klassic Blak for many years. Chris has a big local reputation with a big sound. David Lake; Bass Guitar & Vocals David is the newest member of the Rebel Rousers. He has played with many Sydney and Central Coast bands before joining the band. David and John provide a solid rhythm section which is essential in 50s-60s music. Paula McMahon; Lead Guitar & Vocals A long apprenticeship playing the folk club circuit of sixties England followed playing alongside such dignitaries as Paul Simon, Al Stewart, Tom Paxton, Sandy Denny. Paula has played with “Red Corvette” for many years before joining the Rebel Rousers. Paula has gained a reputation as a “Red Hot” guitar player and singer, she has recently supported Eric Burdon and The Animals and has toured up and down Australia’s east coast, filling dance halls and venues wherever they appear. John Reid; Drums & Vocals John moved to the Central Coast from the Northern Territory in the 70s and has played with local bands 'Livin Country' and 'Move It'. John is an excellent driving type of drummer who’s solos are always appreciated by the crowd. Barry Wellard; Rhythm Guitar & Vocals Barry has been playing 50s-60s music for many years and has played with local bands such as The Back Beats.
