The competition is presented by The Hub, Sea FM and Musicians Making A Difference and sponsored by Better Futures and Macron Music.

The Sea Fm Discovered competition will give an opportunity for young aspiring singer/songwriters and talented vocalists between the age of 12 and 25 to put their skills on show while also offering up to $10,000 in prizes to help them kick start their career.

The Sea FM Discovered winner for 2011 has been announced, with Jess Green impressing the crowd and the judges on Grand Final night to take out the top prize.

In a spectacular night of entertainment at The Hub, the audience and judges were amazed by the talent of some our local singers and songwriters.

Coordinator of The Hub, Mr Steve Knee said that this year’s competition unearthed some of our region’s most talented musicians.
“Everyone who entered this year gave 110 per cent and put on some really great performances, the talent was outstanding.
“This competition would not have been possible without our many great supporters and sponsors who have worked so hard in making Discovered such a success.
“We have had great interest from the public and are excited about discovering more local performers in 2012,” said Mr Knee.

Sea FM Discovered 2011 has been proudly supported by Sea FM, Musicians Making a Difference, Macron Music, Better Futures, Terrigal High School, Gosford City Credit Union and Gina Jeffreys and Rod McCormack Productions.

A brand new Open Mic event for Blues and Roots!
BARBS - a great new regular event for acoustic roots music on the Coast; a quality experience for musicians and music lovers alike.

BARBS is a place you may find like-minded musos, make friends, and team up to play. Beginners to professionals, all are welcome. We have a very liberal idea of the blues, and roots covers many acoustic forms. We aim to encourage acoustic musicians, not regulate them. Check the major blues&roots festivals’ acceptable genres if you have any doubts. BluesAngels will sit as the house band, where possible, for any performers (vocalists, reeds or brass, percussion) who do not back themselves.

If you wish to play in the BARBS open mic, contact Tom (tomflood@hotmail.com) well before the day and book in, or take your chances and let him know when you arrive.

Open mic will be up to 15 min performances or jams, depending on volume of applicants. The session (4-5pm) will be ad hoc, with those who can leading off on numbers for others to join in.

We can’t do it without you, so become a Barbarian: pack up those instruments, drag friends and family with you, and come on over to a unique experience on the Central Coast. .
