LOST MEN AND ANGRY GIRLS |
AUDREY AULD MEZERA - LOST MEN AND ANGRY GIRLS:
This recording will only appeal to anyone who has been in love, or hurt, or seen the other side of life or .... This CD has a mixture of life's little idiosyncrasies. It will touch a chord with anyone that has lived and breathed.
Usually I would keep working and have a CD on in the background and pick up on something special. I dropped what I was doing and hoped there was a lyric list with "Lost Men And Angry Girls', thankfully there was.
Audrey has penned some amazing words for this CD. I have had a quote of Audrey's posted on the site on previous occasions. She has the gift of the language and she uses it brilliantly.
Her words are moving, emotive, poignant - yes all very similar adjectives but particular to the different tracks on this CD. The track 'NOT I' was well - hard to describe in words.. it gripped the heart... read the lyrics or hear the song - if you've been there you will feel the instant empathy. The wonder of 'HALF A WORLD AWAY' and Audrey's love for her home turf would have had our Peter Allen possibly wishing he had thought of them as well. 'DOWN A HOLE' was a dual edged review of certain facets of life or work while 'DUBLIN BOY' put a sparkle into my Irish eyes .. There are a few that relate to Audrey's travels and experiences in the big ol US of A and they conjure up images the imagination has not yet verified.
This CD, its words and it's music cross the oceans of the earth and the cultures of two countries but there is always that common thread wherever we may be - the human heart and the human way. Audrey has shown we may be in different coloured packaging but all our blood is red and our hearts are vulnerable while our smiles still have the power to lighten a very heavy load...
This album was produced by Bill Chambers and recorded at The Boneyard and Music Cellar studios here on the Coast. Mixed and Mastered by Jeff McCormack and engineered by Jeff and Bill.
The track 'HALF A WORLD AWAY' was recorded and mixed by Gary Mankin at Laughing Tiger Studio, San Rafael, California (USA)
Even if you think you don't like country music have a listen to this CD - its a world of sense...
