Chris Koelma ImageWhats On Central Coast logo image CHRIS KOELMA:
While celebrating a friends birthday on Sunday at Sirens, I was so happy to receive a surprise gift myself.
Enjoying the 5 Lands experience in their new and more appealing home, Rendra introduced a new guest to the stage which in his words, "he was more than happy to hand over the bass place to".

Although Chris only did a couple of solo pieces it was an instant double take by a few of us from the very first note. The eyes had to have a closer look at what the ears were hearing but it was indeed a bass guitar being played in a way I had never heard before - spanish guitar style! Another comment from the birthday friend, a guitarist himself, echoed the likeness of talent and unique sounds to Victor Wooton.

Chris' bio follows this very short review. Take note all you budding new bass players, Chris gives tuition.

I haven't been taken off guard this much since the 5 fingered bass man (Adam Lang) and the awesome Harry Brus reminded me the beauty of music from the bass guitar played well.

It pains me to use this old cliche but you really would be doing yourself a favour to grab the chance to catch this exceptional player around the traps.
