Hot on the heels of the largest, and one of the most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour has hit the road, with stops planned in 17 cities around Australia.
On
the 18th May the festival will screen at Avoca for the first time ever at the Avoca Beach Picture Theatre for ONE NIGHT ONLY!
This years Australian tour, will showcase 2 hours of breathtaking films that will transport you from the heart of the African Congo, through deep powder and an emotional rollercoaster with some inspiring snow lovers, to the heights of Mt Everest on a world record breaking Summit to Sea expedition with some very unassuming heroes.

The final New York Met Opera for this season is one of the most loved operas of all time - Verdi's LA TRAVIATA. This strikingly beautiful production has acclaimed French soprano Natalie Dessay starring as opera's most fascinating heroine. Matthew Polenzani co-stars alongside Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leads Verdi's romantic tragedy in Willy Decker's highly theatrical production woth Soprano Deborah Voigt as host. As this is the last opera for the season, we're starting up an email list for those wanting to be alerted and given details on the new season -- just drop me a line or sign up at this weekend's opera.

AN encore screening for MY WEEK WITH MARILYN is the feature for this month's SHOWTIME LUNCHEON, beginning with a light luncheon before a live performance from David Underwood, tickling the ivories on our beautiful concert grand piano. Then sit back for a most enjoyable experience - MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, the true story of newby Colin Clark on the set of 'The Prince and the Showgirl', the film that famously united Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams). Colin is to look after Marilyn - an idyllic week in which he escorts a Monroe desperate to get away from her Hollywood hangers-on. This film is an absolute pleasure. Bookings essential for catering.

For over 40 years AL JOLSON was named "The World's Greatest Performer," a passionate man with a big heart, pioneering ideas that would change the entertainment world. He successfully worked to have laws changed to allow American negroes the right to perform and introduced began the idea of taking entertainment to wartime troops. The height of his career spanned many years and in 1927 Al Jolson was asked to star in the first ever feature length talkies film THE JAZZ SINGER, and with it changed the world as we know it today. We will be honouring AL JOLSON and celebrating his music with the Australian icon ISSY DYE bringing the music and feel of Al Jolson to our stage followed by THE JAZZ SINGER on
