MAX HAY - Live music IS Best:
It's the little things in life... and while Max Hay is far from little and his talent is quite the opposite, the time we had to catch Max Hay perform on his fleeting Aussie visit certainly, sadly was.
Max was a guest of Keelie management and a special guest at a recent Soul Session at Sirens Terrigal.
The man himself is quite tall (well to me most folks are) and a very affable and talented singer songwriter whose music has been difficult to categorize. Described by the Missoula Independent as "hillbilly reggae" I guess that will have to do.
Max has a presence both on and off stage and his songs are quite unique.
His covers of favourites from The Pogues are also so brilliantly performed, I especially liked the rendition of 'Streams Of Whiskey'.
Max's CD 'Live Music is Best' has been on extremely high rotation in the players both at home and in the car.
The tracks and live performances have tinges of reggae, blues, African and Irish so yes it is difficult to place into one genre but extremely easy to listen to over and over...
I am tempted to ask Max if I can send along a copy of his song 'Be good to Your Bartender' from the Live album to the AHA as I am sure many hotels would love to have it play every now and again in their venue.
Max Hay's songs are lively, funny, poignant and both the singer and the songs are fantastic entertainment value.
You can hear some of Max's work on his MYSPACE PAGE or listen to tracks from 'Live Music is Best' from the MAX HAY WEBSITE.
Both Max Hay CD's can be purchased through these sites. |
You can view this site at any resolution; we just happen to prefer 1024 x 768.
